The book explores very well the bases of the language, thought for people who begin in programming since it is detailed a lot in general aspects of programming.
It also explores many characteristics of JS that some developers ignore, but the book its excellent for beginning with JS, clearly, illustrated and very well explained.
It's a good reference book. As others have noted, it does not have specific projects tied with case studies, which might have been more useful. Still, with beautiful design and valuable information, I'd say it's a must-have on your business bookshelf.
Great resource though my copy was a little old. I like how the concepts in this book are organized and presented in a very visually appealing way. I will keep this one on my shelf for future reference. I'm a visual learner, and I thought the book had great, real life examples that were well laid out. Just need to practice my own examples now and get repetition in.
I did not feel that this book was helpful at all. It is a disjunct dictionary of terms with pictures. I won this book in a First Reads contest. I have never seen a textbook with such an emphasis on clarity! In some of my other reviews, I've mentioned that books have clear explanations. In this book, not only are the explanations clear, the presentation of the text is also clear. Many textbooks present information in large paragraphs of tiny text, one after the other, so that it is difficult to tell where one paragraph ends, and the next begins.
This book does not do that. Instead, this book has One of the best JavaScript books that I've read. It gives you a clear starting point and covers a wide variety of topics.
